Grass Mud Horse
Mainland Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was arrested and detained by the Chinese Government. Art community members in Hong Kong felt this is not right so we organized a public protest, participated by 2,000 people, calling for the immediate release of Ai Weiwei. ‘Grass Mud Horse’ is a work inspired by a photograph done by Ai Weiwei and the sub-text is extremely powerful (it sounds like ‘fxck your mother’ in Putonghua). There are four wheels underneath the ‘Grass Mud Horse’. When it reached the Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui I rode on top and gave a speech. Many V for Vendetta masked followers were attracted by this protest artwork during the protest.
