Molotov Cocktail Series
Molotov Cocktail Series
When citizens of the world need to protest against their authoritarian government under the principle of uncivil disobedience, they would often choose bricks and the Molotov Cocktails. The artist studied how real Molotov cocktails were constructed during the 2019 Anti-Extradition Law Movement in Hong Kong then recreated them with glass beer bottle, sugar, and coloured pigment. The bottle was then casted into resin, the casting process yields temperature well over 100 degrees Celsius, the entire cast was then dropped into iced water for cooling eventually locking the air bubbles within the resin, giving its explosive look. Although this artwork was created as early as 2019 but the artists never exhibit it in Hong Kong, worrying that the red line might link to few years in prison or worst.
