We'll Meet Again

Kacey Wong chooses to leave Hong Kong and go into self-exile to Taiwan in July of 2021 and he created an MTV for the farewell occasion. The inspiration came from the British singer Vera Lynn’s song “We’ll Meet Again” of the World War II period and Canadian poet singer Leonard Cohen’s MTV “First We Take Manhattan”. The black and white imagery with accordion music bring forward the feelings of hope, helplessness, and sorrow when facing the age of darkness. The video was shot inside and near the artist former art studio in Hong Kong in Ap Lei Chau district, and it was edited and recorded inside the quarantine hotel in Taiwan. A true cross boundaries creation and also the last artwork from Hong Kong.

Dear Hong Kong,

When you received this letter I have already left

Leaving is not easy staying is also difficult

We have known each other for 51 years I will not forget you

Let’s treasure each other goodbye Hong Kong

We'll meet again

Don't know where

Don't know when

But I know we'll meet again some sunny day

2021年7月黃國才選擇離開香港流亡到台灣，他製作了一個告別MTV，靈感來自二戰時期英國女歌手Vera Lynn 的歌We’ll Meet Again和加拿大詩人歌手Leonard Cohen 的MTV 錄像 “First We Take Manhattan”。黑白的畫面與手風琴音樂，表達出面對黑暗時代內心所擁抱著的希望、無奈、與傷感。作品在藝術家香港鴨脷洲工作室拍攝，在台灣隔離酒店內剪輯及錄音，是跨國界的創作，也是藝術家告別香港的最後一件藝術作品。
